London Rowing Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Great Britain High Performance Coach Rob Dauncey as Director of Rowing.
Rob will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Club’s high performance programme, with a particular focus on success at Henley Royal Regatta. He joins LRC from the GB Rowing Team where he has been a high performance coach since 2013, bringing home numerous European, World Cup and World Championship medals.
Bob Downie, Chairman London Rowing Club, commented on the appointment "As a former member of London Rowing Club, combined with his years of success at an international level, we believe Rob has both the passion and the experience to develop our athletes into a force to be reckoned with at the very top of the domestic rowing scene."
Commenting on his appointment, Rob said, "These are exciting times for London Rowing Club. With the recent announcement of a new £500,000 state of the art gym, the Club is showing its intent and commitment to the development of its athletes by providing them with world class facilities and equipment."
To ensure a smooth transition which does not disrupt the GB Rowing Team’s preparations, the Club is working with GB Rowing and expects Rob will take up his position in December. Rob will be supported on and off the water by the Club’s team of coaches and support staff.
The Club’s new gym, to be named after former LRC President and Henley Royal Regatta Chairman, Peter Coni OBE, is due to be opened in 2018.
