New entrance signage now in place for the Peter Coni Gym

We are very proud to unveil our new entrance signage for the entrance leading up to the Peter Coni Gym. Printed and installed by Octink, the new signage imbues the modern look and values of our wonderful new land based training centre here on the Putney embankment.

Designed by Bob Silver, the new Peter Coni Gym and London Rowing Club typography utilises the brand new version of Helvetica Now Display Black which has just been released in recent weeks by Monotype, the famous type foundry. Silver says. “Our notorious LONDON marque seen across our kit and clothing has just been made even stronger with this new release. Its emphasis is still on simplicity and clarity, and its immense flexibility to perform in many sizes has given our new land based training centre an incredibly modern and timeless appeal.”

LRC Gym men's changing rooms – Shower rooms installed

The changing room windows have obscured glass for privacy and all other glass is clear. The amount of natural daylight in the gyms and the changing room is excellent. The apex of the smaller weight’s gym will be fully glazed and will introduce light and warmth as it faces south. The metal framing for the glazing is being fabricated currently together with the bridge link from the common parts to the new changing room.

In the last month there has been continued good progress. All the windows, including the full height section in the large gym and the changing room windows, are now fitted. The windows are double glazed for thermal and acoustic insulation and have metal frames in the same anthracite grey colour as the external cladding. They look very good.

The entrance area to the gym, the physio room and accessible WC have been dry-lined and plastered, various doors have been made and fitted and the vision panel for the physio room and the glazing above is now in place.

First LRC Committee meeting of 2019 – inspecting our new gym's progress…

On 9th January 2019, at 19:30pm our first Committee meeting of the year started inside our new Gym build. Now fully watertight and even with some windows going in, we could all begin to picture how the next phase of the interior fit out was going to look thanks to the guided tour by Peter Halford…
