Coaches
LRC is lucky to have a strong squad of coaches under Paul Reedy, including a new Australian coach and several drawn from successful LRC rowing squads from recent decades. The majority of the coaches have either competed or coached at international level.
Chief Coach: Paul Reedy
Paul, born in 1961, rowed and coached at Melbourne University before taking over as Chief Coach at London in 2000. He was a medallist at the 1984 Olympic Games, the 1986 Commonwealth Games and the 1990 World Championships. He is also a past winner at Henley. Paul has a BSc in Physiology from Melbourne University. He has also recently, in addition to his LRC duties, become a memebr of the GB coaching team.
Philip (Phil) Bourguignon
Phil joined the coaching team as Senior Coach, a new appointment, in January 2010 and is also from Australia, where he was born in Brisbane in 1972. Most recently Director of Rowing at Sydney University, he guided athletes to Australian State Champion club titles and National teams. He has coached medal winning Under 23 crews, and was coach of the Australian women’s double at the 2009 World Championships, which finished 5th. Before Sydney University, Phil coached the lightweight men’s group at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Phil will be working alongside Paul Reedy, taking primary responsibility for the Club’s main squad group, whilst Paul concentrates on the Lightweight High Performance Programme and London’s international rowers.
Richard Philips
Richard joined London Rowing Club in 1973 and was Captain from 1987-1989. He started coaching London crews in 1990 and since then has been influential in London's success.
Richard coached the Great Britain U23 Lwt 2x in 1992 and assisted with the Great Britain Lightweight squad coaching in 1991, 1992 and 1993. Although he never got further than the semi-finals of HRR as a rower, Richard has been involved in the coaching of London's winning HRR crews since 1990.
Tam Richmond
Tom Killick
A past Captrain and having retired from active rowing in 2008, Tom will be assisting Paul Reedy and Phil Bourguignon in managing the squad as well as providing useful coaching support.
